Our vision

STRIDE will use innovative health economics techniques to comprehensively assess the significant health, social and economic impacts of infectious diseases interventions. Our findings will ensure that public health funding is channelled into effective, equitable and cost-effective interventions, ones which will ultimately save more lives by making the most of available resources. Our highly experienced team of researchers, health practitioners, and policy makers with diverse skills and strong existing collaborations will come together with early to mid-career researchers to drive the research agenda and create Australia’s first centre for stronger investments in infectious diseases. Our CRE aligns with calls by the Australian Government [1], World Bank [2] and Global Fund [3] for more efficient and equitable resourcing and investment in infectious diseases and with the Australian Medical Research and Innovation Strategy that advocates for “a more comprehensive evaluation framework that is practical, durable and sensitive enough to capture social, economic as well as health outcomes of investments [4].
